Our Herstory

Witch Hazel’s story began in October of 2013 when Kelsey, Mel and Sarah sat together at a hotel bar while attending a hair show in Minneapolis and decided that one day we were going to open a salon together. We wanted to change a lot of what we felt was wrong with the beauty industry and work to elevate the beauty culture in Indianapolis. Then we decided to call it Witch Hazel.

After receiving the keys to our first space in January of 2017, we began construction on February 4th and after 24 grueling days of work, opened the doors February 28th, 2017.

Initially we opened a 6 chair salon with the intention of creating a space where likeminded individuals could rent from us and keep things small, but after years of learning and growth we are in our second location featuring 20 stations and an ever growing team.
